Background

Stripe’s new app store integration within the dashboard was designed to empower users with seamless access to a range of third-party tools directly within their Stripe experience. Tasked with creating the app store from the ground up, our team worked closely with Stripe’s designers and product managers to define user stories, design integrations, and develop a smooth, cohesive interface for apps like Mailchimp, Dropbox, and more. The result was a scalable, intuitive app store, launched on time, that now hosts over 100 apps and enhances Stripe’s functionality for businesses worldwide.

  • Stripe needed a robust, user-friendly app store integrated directly into the Stripe dashboard to enhance functionality and provide customers with seamless access to third-party tools. However, the complexity of integrating diverse apps—such as Mailchimp and Dropbox—required a deep understanding of each application’s unique workflows and how they would function within Stripe’s ecosystem. The challenge was to define a scalable integration model and a cohesive user experience that would maintain Stripe’s standards for usability and simplicity.

  • The goal was to design a fully integrated app store within Stripe’s dashboard, allowing users to discover, access, and manage third-party apps directly within Stripe. This included defining user stories, creating intuitive navigation, and ensuring smooth, functional integration with each app to drive user engagement and enhance Stripe’s value proposition.

  • Collaborating closely with Stripe’s product managers and designers, we gathered requirements, defined user stories, and designed seamless integrations for a range of apps, such as Mailchimp and Dropbox. We developed a standardized approach to onboarding and app integration, ensuring each app could function intuitively within Stripe’s dashboard. This process involved extensive research into both Stripe’s platform and each third-party app, allowing us to design an app store that felt cohesive and easy to use.

Outcome

The Stripe app store was launched successfully and on schedule, with an initial set of applications integrated directly into the dashboard. Within the first six months, the app store grew to feature approximately 100 apps, enhancing the Stripe platform’s versatility and offering customers a centralized way to manage essential third-party tools. The app store quickly became a popular feature, driving a 50% increase in customer engagement and positioning Stripe as a more integrated, multifunctional solution for businesses.
